our story

Atotonilco was founded in Chicago, IL over 25 years ago by the Muñoz Brothers. The siblings opened their first small taquería in Little Village, eventually expanding independently to other areas in the city of Chicago and the suburbs.

Don Oscar brought the traditional hometown methods of making nixtamalized, stone-ground corn tortillas to Chicago. Having grown up on a farm, Don Oscar purchased land in Illinois and began growing and harvesting his own corn. Tortilleria Atotonilco’s corn is carefully grown and selected to ensure the freshest products and only the highest quality ingredients are used.
